This is one job with many roles and is a critical cog in the Iron Wind Marine / Halifax Trailer machine. The role demands a person with great common sense and a can do attitude. As the principle support person for logistics (moving boats) testing (running boats) and final unit preparation (detailing boats) for delivery this role requires someone with a range of skills.

If you're tired of doing the same old thing over and over and want to have variety in your day this job will provide it. Towing, launching, retrieving boats, cleaning boats, shrink wrapping, coordination of the movement of boats in and out of the service shop, lot checks to ensure our clients boats are in good condition, minor property repairs, building and inspecting trailers and assisting setting up boat shows are just some of the things that this position gets to work on.

What is detailing? In boat detailer jobs, you have various duties, including cleaning the boat in detail, buffing and applying wax, and working to make the boat look like new. As well as applying paint to the bottom of boats. An eye for detail is important to ensure our clients receive their boat in tip top condition. Boat detailer is a very physically demanding job. You should be able to be on your feet for extended periods. Ideally candidates would have prior experience detailing boats. Experience in car detailing would also be considered an asset.

What is involved with Yard Work? Yard Work involves moving boats with fork lift and/or truck, moving and adjusting blocks and stands, loading boats on trailers, unloading boat and trailer deliveries, building and inspecting trailers and keeping the facility clean and tidy. Once experienced a senior Yard Person will be able to operate our hydraulic trailer and our transport truck to load and move boats around the Maritimes. We are prepared to train the right candidate to operate a Class 1 vehicle.

What is a Handyperson? A Handyperson is someone who can handle small repairs to our property and equipment as needed. This isn't a part of the job that requires extensive previous experience but rather someone who is generally reasonably good at handling general small maintenance items around the property.

What is a Driver? A Driver is responsible for safely transporting customer and stock boats to and from our shop and to docks, residences and trade shows. This could mean traveling throughout Atlantic Canada as well as occasional trips to Quebec, Ontario and Maine.

We are looking for a motivated person with a great attitude that wants to learn and thrive in an interesting industry. We are looking for a long term permanent employee and we will train the right candidate in aspects of the position that they may not currently have experience with. We are looking for someone who wants a solid long term career with an established small business.

Schedule: Monday to Friday Weekends as needed Some travel is necessary during trade show season (Feb-March-April)

Pay based on experience $18.00-$22.00 per hour
