Description

Purchased when I was a teen. I upgraded the 1974 Look N17 bindings in 1989 to Look ZR bindings.

175 cm length.

The 1970s were cold and lots of snow and ice. These downhill skis are slalom racing skis that firmly grip the ice due to their rigid torsional design. Mid-light blue-colored p-tex base was repaired using a ski p-tex heating tool and blue p-tex filler.

The cost at the time was several hundred dollars. Similar skis now cost about $800 to $1 k new not including bindings. Likely, bindings must be upgraded due to ever-changing safety regulations.

I used these skis in the 1970s at Camp Fortune, Edelweiss Valley, Calabogie Peaks, Ski Vorlage, Mont Saint Marie, Pakenham, Carlington Park, Y-camp small ski hill with the ski school. As a kid, the ski season passes were inexpensive, but all that has changed due to inflation and high taxes on energy.

Then used them on Rocky Mountains near Calgary in 1989 - 1990 Banff Sunshine Village Ski & Snowboard Resort.

Then a couple of times skis last used circa 1991 at Mont Saint Marie.

If you Google search images of these skis, a Facebook video shows a technician doing maintenance on a pair of these using a buffer and buffing compound to improve the cosmetics on the top surface. The buffing creates a super shiny finish on even older set of these skis due to the plastic compounds used. The rigid design originates from the cores of fibroplastic that are then wrapped in fiberglass. The reason why I selected to buy such skis was that they were the best-rated skis that you could buy at the time.
