This is an external sound card that connects to your laptop or PC with a USB cable. It is a 7.1 channel surround device. This allows you to hear your games with virtual 7.1 surround sound using any set of headphones. It also has a separate microphone jack and chat audio. If you use voice chat in online games, you can adjust the sound of the incoming voices separately from the game audio. Nice feature! This product is discontinued and considered one of the best. It’s the second edition with upgraded microphone input. My personal experience is that the mic input records the best audio I have ever used. I was surprised! As for the game audio and surround effect, you want to use decent headphones to get the full effect. I bought this and ended up not using it. I don’t play on PC very often.
