NICE, SUPER CLEAN, SMOKE-FREE, ALL ORIGINAL, WORK AND SOUND LIKE NEW

These speakers were also marketed as JBL 500 (exact same design, in and out, except M5 had slightly improved X-overs, different grilles and thicker MDF cabinets)
Due to use of proper/matched driver material for both tweeter and woofer cones these speakers produce unusually natural and balanced (for JBL anyway) sound, more similar to Tannoy or Mission than JBL;
Not West Coast sounding at all; nice fairly flat frequency curve, easy on ears!
* First version, USA-made, produced 02/1996 - 06/1996 only; hard to get;
* JBL in-house developed drivers:
10-601 Woofers and 72273 Tweeters (also employed in JBL 500 and ARC10);
* Oversized neodymium magnets;
* Minimalist's 2nd order X-over: single resistor, single capacitor and single inductor per speaker;
This probably explains why these JBL have such a nice sound
* Everlasting cloth surrounds; no need to refoam, ever!
* The grilles are not meant to be removed;
In my experience technically they can be removed, with some efforts, but to put them back into place will be difficult

The best sound is with 100+ wpc amps, as always (for proper control/headroom reasons), just take care with volume control; I tested them with JBL MPX 1200 rated at 800 W per side, the sound was simply glorious!
