Beautiful vintage Marantz 2245 stereo receiver in very good overall condition. This unit has been fully restored with capacitors and transistors replaced, then cleaned in detail and adjusted to spec. It has been well cared for and is working as it should. This is one detailed, warm sounding receiver.
If interested please message me. I do not answer to "is it still available". Located at QEW & Southdown Rd., Mississauga. Demo before purchase, best for both parties.
All boards have been fully recapped. Transistors have been upgraded on all boards except AM/FM boards (as not to throw out tuning). This really increases the detail of the sound.
Why Choose a Fully Recapped Vintage Receiver? Buying a recapped vintage receiver is far wiser than choosing one that still relies on decades-old original capacitors. Over the decades, electrolytic capacitors dry out, drift in value, and can fail without warning—causing hum, distortion, weak channels, intermittent operation, or even damage to transformers and output stages that are costly or impossible to replace. Just finding a technician could be a challenge. Our comprehensive restoration process eliminates these risks and brings the unit back to its full performance potential.
Our Restoration Process:
Thorough Cleaning
• Complete internal and external cleaning to remove dust and debris
• Disassembly and deep cleaning of the chassis, faceplate, and knobs
• Clean and de-oxidize RCA inputs and cap with protective cover
• Vellum replaced on front face (behind tuning plate) PCB Restoration
• Each PCB cleaned on both sides to remove dirt and corrosive aged flux
• Inspection for cold solder joints, lifted traces, and any abnormalities
Electronics Upgraded:
• All electrolytic capacitors replaced with high-quality Nichicon audio-grade capacitors (excluding filter caps which tested good)
• Film capacitors installed where possible
• All transistors upgraded on power supply, power amp and tone boards for long-term reliability
• All solder joints carefully de-fluxed ensuring no corrosive residue is left behind
Final Calibration & Testing:
• DC offset and bias adjusted to factory specifications
• 40-hour burn-in test to ensure total stability and performance The result is a vintage receiver restored far beyond what an untouched, original-capacitor unit can offer.
Upgrades & Features
• Upgraded 5-way binding posts (banana plug compatible)
