"I had an NAD 1700 Monitor Series preamp / tuner and it was an excellent performer. The tuner was superb, and even though it was a digital tuner it behaved like a really fine analog tuner. It had a flywheel weighted tuning knob and narrow / wide band tuning mode, and I really liked the arrows that pointed left and right to help dial the station in perfectly. The phono preamp was dead silent and sounded great (was using a Technics SL-1700 with a Shure M95ED cart). Never used the MC function, but it was very clean and accurate to my ears. It was a very good all around unit and I probably should have kept it, but I moved on to a different system so off it went. I had the matching cassette deck and cd player, too - all very good stuff. The Monitor Series is some of NAD's best stuff IMO."
