1978 Honda CB550K

1978 Honda CB550K in very good condition. This is my wife's bike and has been lowered slightly to allow her feet to be placed flat on the ground when stopped. The stock rear shocks were replaced with 'short shocks' - about 13-1/2 inches as opposed to the stock 15 inches. The fork clamps were lowered a corresponding amount to maintain the correct attitude. The throttle return spring tension has also been reduced as the effort of holding it open hurt her wrist on longer rides. Other than that, the bike is original to the best of my knowledge, with OEM NOS (New Old Stock) 4 into 4 exhaust pipes in excellent condition with no rust or pitting. A black 4 into 1 MAC exhaust header is also included if you're that way inclined. The carburetors were recently cleaned ultrasonically and bench synced (not vacuum synced). This bike is an unrestored survivor of the '70s. Paint is original and in good shape so the bike can be ridden as is or used as an excellent starting point for a showroom restoration. Braided S.S. front brake line, new (last year)brake caliper, piston and pads. New battery last Year. A number of spares come with it, including a speedometer, a complete clutch drum (purchased when I thought an engine rattle at idle was a worn clutch - turned out a good carburetor sync silenced the rattle), new brake shoes, new air filter, new clutch cable, a selection of stainless allen bolts, head, base and exhaust gaskets along with an assortment of other gaskets and o-rings. The bad? There is a small oil leak from the head/barrel interface from the rocker oil supply o-ring (new Honda o-rings for fix included). I carry a folded paper towel in my jacket to slide between the fins when stopped for coffee on longer rides. She needs a complete tune-up as the idle speed is somewhat erratic. Bike is 46 years old so will be sold on an as-is-where-is basis with no warranty expressed or implied (although I can assist with delivery on the Island). Photographs are from last summer but the bike has not been used since - other than around the block to circulate the oil.
