Description
I have a pair of late 70's xs650's which are not running. They're both project bikes and in varying levels of completion as they were originally procured in "barn status.” I have some spare engine cores in similar condition, and a few spare parts as well. I bought these two bikes years ago as, at that time, they were starting to get a bit sparse. In the meantime I finished other bike projects (KZ, GS, couple CB's) and my classic Toyota truck. I have since sold them off as I have been in Canada less and less over the last decade - always thinking that I'd eventually get around to these two xs650's..
Now I am about to do another six year stint in the Schengen during which time I'll only be back in Canada for 3 months per year. In other words, the bikes will continue sitting as I am going to be exceptionally time-poor.
Rather than sell them, I'd like to go for something unconventional; if you are someone who knows what they're doing we can sort something of a trade..
You can have one of the bikes...
...but I want one bike back so I have something to ride when I'm here during riding season. In other words, you can keep one for your own xs650 project and instead of buying either of them, you put some labour into the second bike for me.
I am not even necessarily looking for a fully road-ready bike to be handed back here, but I am open to discussing more and potentially paying towards completion of it.
If you're willing to complete some of my bike, of course I will provide necessary parts (new suspension, updated brake parts) and pay for powder coating, etcetera. Anything beyond that like the wiring harness, handle bars, instruments - I don't really need installed. Those can be completed quickly from my side when I am back. As said I am also open to paying for the rest of the completion if you are reading this and happen to do this somewhat professionally.
It should be obvious I am not going to hand the bikes over to first-time or inexperienced builders.
If this sounds like something you're interested in, please respond to my message with your phone number and come see the bikes. Like I said, I am open to discussing the arrangement we make, but in person.
I'm happy to hold on to them for another six years if I don't find an agreeable arrangement. Better getting to them late than never.
Thanks everyone.
**Edit: most spare parts have been sold off this since posting
