2. "Cannabis Criminals: The Social Effect of Punishment on Drug Users" by Dr. Patricia Erickson (1980, Addiction Research Foundation, Toronto).

"The law is an imperfect social invention. Indeed, the law produces many social embarrassments that most of us successfully ignore. One of these is the role our laws played in creating ... 'cannabis criminals.' Erickson has documented the details of this embarrassment in terms ... no longer be possible to ignore. ABOUT THE AUTHORS - Morris Manning, Q.C., C.S., J.D., 1973 Sr Crown Counsel, 1978 Queen's Counsel; acted as Defence Counsel and Prosecutor in Trial courts and Appeal courts before all levels as a Certified Specialist in criminal litigation by the Law Society of Upper Canada.
