Hey, board game enthusiasts, ever heard of a game more complex than Chess? From a Dutch company dating to 1942, created by a Dutch Jew, the original mind behind the making of Monopoly, a strategic "war game" thought to be modeled after a French game named "L'Attaque?"

Well, here's the classic original, original European version of it, updated in 1992 to bring you new and improved playing pieces, a privacy set up screen (used before the start of the game), multilingual game manual and other such helpful game props. Known as the JUMBO version, it's large size board and "game art" is second to known; far superior than newer, smaller knock off versions that play with the original rules purists can't stand.

Stratego (strətiːɡoʊ) is a strategy board game for two players on a board of 10×10 squares. Each player controls 40 pieces representing individual Officer ranks in an Army. The pieces have Napoleonic insignia and pieces advance against one another hoping to snuff out weaker opponents.

The objective of the game is to find and capture the opponent's "Flag" while avoiding minefields and stronger army forces or capture so many enemy pieces, the opponent cannot make any further moves. Depending on the players experience, games can last 30 minutes to 2 hours.

"The average game has 381 moves. The number of legal positions is 10115. The number of possible games is 10535.[4] Stratego has many more moves and substantially greater complexity than other familiar games like CHESS, GO and Backgammon. However unlike those games where a single bad move at any point may result in loss of the game, most moves in Stratego are more inconsequential."

Stratego has simple enough rules for young children to play but a depth of strategy that's appealing to adults. The game is a slightly modified copy of an early 20th century French game named "L'Attaque." It has been in production in EUROPE since 1946 and the U.S. since 1961. There are now 2 and 4 handed versions, versions with 10, 30 or 40 pieces per player, and boards with smaller sizes (# of spaces). Variant pieces and different rule sets also exist mainly among the newer overseas licensed versions.

Stratego was first registered in 1942 in the Netherlands. The U. S. trademark was filed in 1958 and registered in 1960 to Jacques Johan Mogendorff and is presently owned by Jumbo Games as successors to HAUSEMANN AND HOTTE, headquartered in the Netherlands.
