CONUNDRUM: The grey/black 1990s style of Sony Trinitrons is preferable to the flat and angular silver Trinitrons of the aughts, but the silver ones have better quality video input. What is an incredibly picky collector to do?
SOLUTION: Source a great-looking, large curved Trinitron and get it modded with an RGB SCART input!
Now you're burning down the living room, son! Nobody in town has what you have now with your own bespoke 32" Trinitron with its original swivel stand and remote, all for less than the price of what some will spend on a pair of tights! And this set has recently been serviced beyond the RGB mod, receiving a convergence adjustment and a capacitor replacement on its neckboard.
The stand shows signs of use over the years with scuffs and scratches here and there. The glass door and shelf that would have originally been on the stand are not present. There is a chip in the plastic of the remote. But you don't notice any of this because you will be entranced by the screen! This TV was never meant to look this good, and yet here it is 26 years after it was released in stores, loud and proud with a new lease on life thanks to its best-possible image quality. What a world.
