Beautifully crafted historic home in the downtown core. Built in 1947 this home charms with cove ceilings, and inlaid hardwood floors. The house was renovated in 2018 with upgrades in plumbing, electrical and the kitchen.
The kitchen is now a gourmet space for creating, cooking and gathering. You’ll find everything you need for creative cooking plus lots of gadgets you may never have used. Appliances include a gas stove and oven, dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer, washer and dryer. Small appliances include an Instapot, KitchenAid mixer, Vitamix, Bosch stick blender, espresso maker, coffee grinder, electric fondue pot, Panini maker, food processor, nut mylk maker, Pressure cooker, clay baker etc etc etc There is ample storage in the kitchen including 2 original built-in shelving units.
The house is full of natural light with generous and plentiful windows in all rooms. The kitchen-dining area has heated porcelain floors. There is both a natural gas fireplace and a high-efficiency natural gas wall heater plus electric heat controls in bedrooms. Each bedroom can be locked. Both bedrooms are large with two windows in each. Both have desks. One room has additional storage, the larger room has an infrared sauna.
The living room has a generous sitting area that cozies up to a gas fireplace. There is a big screen smart TV. There is also a host of board games with a decent-sized coffee table to play them on.
The bathroom is quaint with its refinished cast iron deep tub.
. The gardens around the house create an oasis to relax in. Your rent includes a gardener for general upkeep so, all the pleasure without the weeding. The back garden is tiered in four levels. The top level has a sweet love swing and an outdoor fireplace. The views over the channel are enchanting. You can watch the ferries come and go amidst the sailboats and float planes. On the third level, there is a fire pit to gather around (Always check for fire bans first) Throughout the gardens you’ll find fruit trees and berry bushes as well as flowers. The second level has a small patio under the plum tree for yoga and mediation . The lower level has a large picnic table and barbeque to enjoy some outside dining. The rear garden is fully fenced and has a locking gate. This area is private from the rest of the world and will become your place of quiet sanctuary.
The location is among the most walkable in all of Nanaimo. It’s an easy 5-minute walk to all the downtown has to offer…but far enough away that the sounds of the city aren’t heard. Harbour Air, Helijet and the fast ferry to Vancouver are all in walking distance. The bus depot is about a 3-minute walk and transport to both the university and the hospital are within easy reach. The International Airport is a 20-minute drive and the car ferries are an 8-minute and a 15-minute drive respectively Nanaimo is the central port of Vancouver Island making access to all the wonders of this paradise accessible as an easy day trip. Victoria, Tofino, Sooke, The wild West Coast and Campbell River are all in a 2-hour radius of Nanaimo. Its an amazing place to call home as you explore.
