Fishing season has started!! Hecla Island is located 2 hours north of Winnipeg surrounded by Lake Winnipeg, a world class Walleye fishing destination.
Year-round activities to enjoy in Hecla include hiking trails, public ice fishing huts, cycling, swimming, snowmobile trails and cross-country skiing trails. In late October Hecla is a congregation place for bald eagles as they prepare for fall migration. Thousands of bald eagles can be spotted during this time. Other wildlife that call the island home include moose, white-tailed deer, foxes, beavers, lynx, wolves, coyotes, bears, and otters. There are two restaurants, Gull Harbour Marina and Lakeview Resort, located within 10 minutes that are open year-round.
The available cabin is centred in the heart of Hecla Island’s historic village minutes away from a boat launch for water access and a pier for shore fishing. The cabin features three bedrooms and one bath. Sleeps 5 in a double bed, two single bed bunk beds, and another single bed. Fully equipped kitchen, BBQ, large great room with satellite TV, WIFI and a wood burning fireplace (wood included with rental). Cabin is dog friendly no cats please. Now booking short term rentals.
