THE DALHOUSIE LODGE STORY
Dalhousie Lake is approximately 1.5 hours north of the 1000 Islands and 1 hour from Ottawa, Canada's capital city. The property is situated about mid-way on the north shore of this beautiful 3-mile long, 1-mile wide lake, which is used almost exclusively as a summer vacation spot. Visitors to the lake come to fish, golf, enjoy water sports, or just relax and read. The lake has very clean, clear water and a sandy bottom that slopes gradually from a shallow shoreline, making it ideal for swimmers of all ages.
Dalhousie Lodge consists of the main cottage and five other 3-4 bedroom rental cottages. All are clean, comfortably furnished, and contain bathrooms with showers and complete, well-equipped kitchens. There is a boat launch area for those who bring their own boats and a dock for each cottage. Kayaks, aluminum row boats, a canoe, and a paddle boat are also available for rent. A basketball court, horseshoe pits, swimming raft, children’s playground area, and nearby golf courses are also available. Fishing is a popular year-round activity, as the lake contains walleye, large and small mouth bass, pike, bullheads, and a variety of pan-fish. Licenses are required and may be purchased nearby.
There is a small "country store" close by and a quaint town (Perth) about half an hour away. Restaurants, trails and parks, summer theater, a small shopping center, and antique and specialty shops are available in Perth and surrounding towns for those who enjoy these activities.
