Wanted: Former Problem Gamblers for UofC Study. Earn a $40 Gift Card
Are you currently in recovery from experiences with problem gambling?
The Addictive Behaviours Lab in the Department of Psychology at the University of Calgary is conducting a research study examining recovery from gambling along with other problematic behaviours. The study consists of a telephone interview and online questionnaires. No travel is necessary
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
1. You must have experienced a period in your life lasting 12 consecutive months or longer when you felt that gambling caused problems for you (e.g., financial, interpersonal, emotional, etc.) AND
2. You must CURRENTLY be in a period of recovery from problem gambling that has lasted 12 consecutive months or longer.
Please note that these are the MINIMUM eligibility requirements. Meeting these two requirements does not guarantee you will be able to participate in this study. You will be asked to complete an online screener to determine if you are eligible.
WHAT WILL I BE ASKED TO DO IN THE STUDY?
1. A telephone interview that includes questions about your demographics (e.g., age, gender), your history with gambling, and other potentially addictive behaviours (e.g., substance use) if they apply to you.
2. An online questionnaire that includes questions about your personality, life experiences, etc.
As a thank-you for participating in this study, eligible participants will be offered $40 in the form of an electronic gift card. These gift cards can be used online and in-store.
Any replies to our ads, and all information collected for this study will be kept completely confidential. Any information you provide will not be disclosed to anyone outside of the study, and will not affect any relationship you may have with the University of Calgary.
